Dragon Boat Race & Festival

Dutchess County’s first Dragon Boat Race and Festival is coming up this July 5th in Poughkeepsie on the Hudson River. That same morning, the public gathers for the Annual Balloon Launch and the festival will continue the excitement for the day featuring dragon boat races along the river and an Asian Cultural Festival with live music, events, arts and artisans, and food vendors.

Do you have a food truck? Do you make handmade craft items, art, or other unique offerings?

We invite you to secure your place to participate – whether you are a food vendor, or an artist selling handmade items; we anticipate this festive event to be well-attended! Other vendors will be accepted on a space-available basis.

Date: July 5, 2014
Location: On the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie – area surrounding the Hudson River Rowing Association Community Boat House
Details:

  • The event is scheduled from 8:00am until 3:00pm.
  • We can accommodate standard size booths (up to 10×10’).
  • Chairs, tents and canopies are not provided.
  • Vendors who market food or face painting must have their insurance agent mail or fax us a Certificate of Insurance showing current liability insurance coverage before space can be confirmed (Certificate must name Arts Mid-Hudson as an additional Insured: Fax: 845-454-6902)
  • Applicants selling products or arts must submit photos and a description of proposed items for sale

Educational Inservice: HIV and Inflammation

Gilead HIV and Kidney Health Flyer

Gilead presents an educational inservice for social workers, medical staff, and community members on HIV and inflammation on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 12 noon. Dr. Jason Leider from Jacobi Medical Center/North Bronx Healthcare Network will cover topics such as immune activation, depletion of lymphocytes, the role of ART on disease progression, and HIV aging of the immune system. This year’s Hairdressers’ Disco Ball–set to be bigger than ever at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center–takes place on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 7:00 pm. With a much larger venue we’re able to expand seating and offer VIP tables, so this year all tickets must be purchased online. Please visit our Eventbrite event page to purchase tickets.

On Friday, June 13, 2014 HVCS held an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony at our new Sullivan County office at 20 Crystal Street in Monticello. Several of our non-profit neighbors stopped by for sandwiches, cake and coffee and took a tour of our beautiful new space. Thanks to everyone who came, and to those who helped make it a special day!

HVCS held its 22nd annual Hudson Valley AIDS Walk on Saturday, May 17, 2014 on the Walkway Over the Hudson. We raised over $42,000 (so far!) at this year’s Walk. Thanks to everyone who walked, volunteered, donated, and sponsored our biggest fundraising event of the year!

Dining Out for Life Drawing Winners Announced

Congratulations to our Dining Out for Life drawing winners! On May 9th, HVCS’ J. Dewey drew the names of three winners to win great prizes to local residents. All entered to win just by dining out on April 23rd.

Thirty 3 Nightclub & Ultra Lounge plays host for the Red Ribbon Afterparty from 10 am to 12 midnight in the Aqua Room, with music by the Hudson Valley’s own Prephab.
