There are only a few tickets left for HVCS’ Drag Brunch 2016! This event has sold out every year and we expect the same situation for Sunday’s big show. If you’ve been waiting, now’s the time to hop on over to Eventbrite to snag your tickets!
And, to add to the fun, our friends and supporters at Big Gay Hudson Valley hope YOU the audience will have just as much fun as our drag-tastic performers! They’re giving away two pairs of tickets to their upcoming event to the two “Best Gender Bender Looks” at Drag Brunch. Don your best gender-switcheroo outfit or bend your gender outfit to the extreme and you might win a pair of tickets to see “Nasty Drew & That Harder Boy: The Mystery of the Family Jewels” in Rosendale on Saturday, April 16th. Outfits will be judged by our performers TRIXIE STARR, JOJO GERARD, ANITA LAY and AVI MUNSTER, so dress to impress!

Great jumping catfish! Someone has snatched Lady Dubois’ cherished family jewels! Never fear, stripper sleuths Nasty Drew and That Harder Boy are on the case. Watch as they hunt for clues, ward off menacing suspects and loosen up a few buttons of their own on their search to find the dastardly diamond deviant.
Presented by Big Gay Hudson Valley and GayHudson.com, Nasty Drew & That Harder Boy: The Mystery of the Family Jewels is written and produced by Chris Harder (who you may remember from BGHV’s annual burlesque cabaret, HUNG With Care). This queer and campy “whodunit” play features some of NYC’s hottest names in burlesque, drag and circus performance.

Fighting the war against hunger, one bowl at a time ~
PLEASE JOIN US FOR THE 13TH ANNUAL EMPTY BOWLS BENEFIT DINNER!!!
This year’s Empty Bowls dinner will be on Friday, April 15th, 2016. It will be held from 5:00 – 7:30 PM in the cafeteria at the Rondout Valley High School in Accord, NY (on Kyserike Road, 1/4 mile off Route 209).
Empty Bowls is an annual benefit dinner held in Accord, New York. Empty Bowls raises money for starving families throughout the Hudson Valley. At Empty Bowls you can purchase a ceramic bowl made by local Rondout Valley High School students and professional artists. Once purchased, you can choose from a wide variety of soups and ice creams to fill your bowl with. All soups, ice creams, breads, and beverages are generously donated by local businesses throughout Ulster County. In past years Empty Bowls has managed to raise over ten thousand dollars!
Proceeds will be given to four local food pantries. The pantries being sponsored this year are the Rondout Valley, Rosendale, Rochester, and HVCS of Kingston Food Pantries. It is with the aid of these pantries that many families throughout Ulster County are able to experience the gift of food, a gift that many of us often take for granted.
Every little bit counts. Every dollar, every bowl, every person. In order to win the war against hunger we must all join the fight together. It takes an individual to make a difference; a group of people to make an impact; a community to change the world. So come and join the Empty Bowls community. United we will fight the war against hunger, one bowl at a time!

HVCS has been the lucky recipient of several donations from ShopRite/Price Rite and Wakefern’s Partners in Caring initiative over the past week! Today, ShopRite of Scarsdale donated an overflowing cart of nonperishable foods for our emergency food closets. Catholic Charities helped them collect the food.
We also learned that our Monticello and Newburgh offices have each received a $1,000 credit at the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York thanks to the Partners in Caring program. Funds came through ShopRite in Monticello and in Vails Gate. We are extremely grateful for ShopRite’s ongoing support for our emergency food closets!

As the new year gets going (is it already mid-January??), we’re turning up the heat on preparations for the 2016 Hudson Valley AIDS Walk–and RUN! We’re excited to announce the return of several loyal event sponsors who have made the commitment to helping us end AIDS in the Hudson Valley.
Thanks to Stop and Shop on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie for signing on as our Healthy Snack Sponsor. Employees will be on site that morning with plenty of fresh fruit, water and granola bars for hungry walkers and runners! Stop and Shop also provides financial support.

Choose from a delicious German brunch menu and enjoy fun andgames from 11 am to 2 pm, special performances by JOJO GERARD, ANITA LAY, SONNY SHORES, and AVI MUNSTER, and music by SUPERIOR SOUNDS. Your $30 prix fixe includes a $20 donation to HVCS, plus your brunch entree and unlimited coffee, tea and soft drinks.

A Thanksgiving Eve food drive to benefit HVCS’ emergency food closets
Join the Hudson Valley Bears at Bar 49 (next to/behind Union Tavern) at 49 Market St. in Poughkeepsie for a pre-Turkey Day dance party with a purpose! DJ duo Prephab keeps the party going with fun disco beats. Bring non-perishable foods (heck, bring a whole bag!) to help fill HVCS’ food closets for the holidays.

Join the guys behind the bar at Chill Wine Bar in Beacon on Friday, November 20, 2015 all night long for a food drive for HVCS! Help “Fill Chill” with non-perishable food, toiletries and household cleaning products for our emergency food closets. While you’re there, sample craft beers and assorted wines, or grab a cheese platter or something from the panini menu–and with Chill donating a percentage of your tab to HVCS, why not order another? Superior Sounds will provide fun disco beats.
This event is open to everyone, and it happens to fall on Chill’s new LGBT Mixer night (the third Friday of the month). It’s a party for a purpose for all!
