Sofregit’s Live Cooking Demo for THRIVES

Thursday, January 8th, 2015

On January 8, 2015, local business owner Carla Ramos stopped by our Poughkeepsie office with Chef Chris for a live Sofregit cooking demo. The duo used their locally-made cooking bases to prepare quick, easy and, most importantly, healthy dishes for clients in our THRIVES nutrition program. The chefs had us laughing and saying “yum!” throughout the demo. Thanks to Sofregit for providing such a great educational demo!

Visit Sofregit online and look for their fresh products at local stores.

The SantaCam: Photos from “Fill Chill”

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

On Friday, December 12, 2014 Chill Wine Bar in Beacon hosted a food, toy and fund drive to support HVCS’ new Poughkeepsie food pantry. Guests dropped off unwrapped toys and  nonperishable foods, and made cash donations. Chill donated 25% of all sales for the night to HVCS, and that will be matched by a major corporation. Santa Claus himself stopped by to say thanks to our loyal, fun-loving donors and to hand out tokens of appreciation (donated by Elizabeth Arden). All told, we raised more than $500 and collected a carload of food!
