Get ready for the Hudson Valley AIDS Walk, HVCS’ biggest fundraiser of the year! Join us on the Walkway Over the Hudson on Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with lots of free snacks, coffee, vendors, music and fun for all ages. This is the only fundraising walk that benefits local people living with HIV/AIDS and we need your help to end AIDS in our lifetime. Together, we can make it happen!
Special thanks to care manager Frankee Ryan, long-time volunteer Patrick Decker and Solaris 3 Productions for making this happen!
Welcome to our new Poughkeepsie home! Please join us on Thursday, April 16th between 3 pm and 7 pm for a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open our newly-relocated Poughkeepsie office at 40 Garden Street. The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3 pm, followed by refreshments, cake and tours of the new space. You can also pick up your Hudson Valley AIDS Walk materials and learn more about getting involved with us.
Please RSVP to Lauren at (845) 471-0707 x10 before April 9th.
HVCS is located on the fourth floor, in Suite 401. Parking is available in nearby municipal lots.
On January 8, 2015, local business owner Carla Ramos stopped by our Poughkeepsie office with Chef Chris for a live Sofregit cooking demo. The duo used their locally-made cooking bases to prepare quick, easy and, most importantly, healthy dishes for clients in our THRIVES nutrition program. The chefs had us laughing and saying “yum!” throughout the demo. Thanks to Sofregit for providing such a great educational demo!
Visit Sofregit online and look for their fresh products at local stores.
On Friday, December 12, 2014 Chill Wine Bar in Beacon hosted a food, toy and fund drive to support HVCS’ new Poughkeepsie food pantry. Guests dropped off unwrapped toys and nonperishable foods, and made cash donations. Chill donated 25% of all sales for the night to HVCS, and that will be matched by a major corporation. Santa Claus himself stopped by to say thanks to our loyal, fun-loving donors and to hand out tokens of appreciation (donated by Elizabeth Arden). All told, we raised more than $500 and collected a carload of food!
St. James Antiochan Orthodox Church will be donating more than 10 full Thanksgiving dinners to some of our Dutchess County clients and families in need. St. James is located on Violet Avenue in Hyde Park. Special thanks to Rheem Nesheiwat for coordinating this effort!
If your church, temple, office or group would like to organize a food drive or donate dinners for our clients, please contact us at (914) 785-8326. Thank you very much!

Despite the name, Chill Wine Bar gives a warm holiday welcome to all HVCS supporters on Friday, December 12, 2014 for a holiday food and gift drive! Join us for Chill’s selection of wines, craft bottled beer, tapas and paninis and bring along non-perishable food items or unwrapped toys to pass on to a needy HVCS family. Plus, Chill will donate 25% of your bill to HVCS–and this donation will be matched by a major corporation, so it’s like a 50% donation of your check! The more you eat and drink, the more we collect for our holiday food pantries for hungry clients.
