Housing Assistance
HVCS operates two Housing Programs to assist HIV-positive clients. The programs are bundled together but have different funding sources. Our staff will guide clients and assess their individual needs to determine which program is the best fit for them.
NYSDOH AIDS Institute Housing Program
Available To Qualifying Clients Throughout HVCS’ Seven-County Region
This housing program provides housing-related assistance for HIV-positive clients anywhere in the seven-county Hudson Valley region as part of a continuum of necessary services designed to stabilize their housing situations, enabling them to maintain themselves in medical treatment and utilize other support services. Housing assistance is available in all seven counties that HVCS covers. We offer short-term rental and utility assistance for HVCS clients, including security deposits, moving costs, brokers’ fees, and minor renovations. One-time emergency rental/utility assistance is available for other agencies’ case management clients.
Our Housing Specialist serves as a specialized housing resource and works in close collaboration with case managers in order to maximize use of both financial and case management resources and minimize duplication.
Tri-County Ryan White Part A Housing
Available To Qualifying Clients in Lower Hudson (Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam Counties)
This program assists HIV-positive homeless and unstably housed individuals in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam to secure or maintain stable housing so that they can remain connected to healthcare and services. The program can assist eligible HIV-positive clients with short-term rental assistance, utilities and telephone service, and moving expenses to secure or maintain stable housing. Eligibility is based upon HIV status, residency, and income.
This program is funded via the New York City Department of Health with funds provided by Ryan White Part A.
