Hudson Valley No Name-Calling Week January 28-February 1, 2013*
No Name-Calling Week, is the national anti-bullying campaign developed and led by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), is a series of educational activities aimed at ending name-calling of all kinds, and providing schools with the tools and inspiration to launch an ongoing dialogue about ways to eliminate bullying in their communities year-round.
GLSEN Hudson Valley in collaboration with the Safe Schools Round Table of the Hudson Valley has sponsored a county-wide event in this region since 2010. The County Executives of Dutchess, Orange and Ulster have lent support to a Hudson Valley-wide “No Name-Calling Week” through proclamations and press conferences. Schools and organizations participate by providing opportunities for classroom discussions, special events and information sharing, and by encouraging students to speak out about bullying – in part, through participation in a three-county Student Creative Expression Exhibit which this year will open at Ulster BOCES in Port Ewen on February 1 and then travel throughout the mid-Hudson Valley.
We invite you to join last year’s 85 participating schools and organizations in observing Hudson Valley “No Name-Calling Week.”
*GLSEN’s National No Name-Calling Week will run from January 21-Januray 28, 2013. Due to Regents Exams in New York State, the Hudson Valley No Name-Calling Week will run from January 28-February1, 2013
